Thanks to Eric and his team Bachard project OpenOffice education , children can now use OOo4Kids (for "OpenOffice for children"), a lighter version of the popular free office suite: OpenOffice .

As an alpha-tester, I tested OOo4Kids on the XO. The launch was uneventful, and the application runs without worry. The launch certainly takes a little time (40 seconds), but use does not pose a problem.

It will of course test it with documents rather complex, but overall I am very impressed by the performance of software and I think that this beginning is very promising. I will announce the official versions on this blog - to keep listening!
